Despite controversies, Osho’s vision continued to spread globally, and his teachings remain influential today. The Pune ashram remains a center for meditation and self exploration, attracting thousands of seekers. Osho’s books, discourses, and meditation techniques are practiced worldwide, reflecting his timeless message: "Live fully, love deeply, and awaken to the silence within."

“OSHO’S WISDOM FOR THE MODERN SEEKER”

The establishment of Osho’s movement traces back to his early years as a revolutionary spiritual teacher in India. Born as Rajneesh Chandra Mohan Jain in 1931 in Kuchwada, Madhya Pradesh, Osho displayed a deep curiosity about life, consciousness, and spirituality from a young age. He studied philosophy and became a professor, but his radical views on religion, tradition, and human consciousness soon led him to embark on a path beyond academia. By the 1960s, he had begun giving public discourses across India, attracting thousands of followers who were drawn to his unconventional teachings on meditation, love, and freedom.

In 1970, Osho introduced Dynamic Meditation, a practice designed to help people break free from mental conditioning and suppressed emotions. This marked the beginning of his organized movement, where meditation was not about sitting in silence alone but about actively transforming one’s energy through movement, breath, and awareness. His teachings combined elements of Zen, Tantra, Sufism, and Western psychology, making spirituality accessible to modern seekers.

By 1974, Osho established the Shree Rajneesh Ashram in Pune, India. This ashram became a global center for meditation, self-exploration, and therapy. People from all over the world came to experience Osho’s unique approach to enlightenment, which encouraged a balance of material and spiritual life. The ashram also served as a hub for creative expression, offering therapies, workshops, and meditation techniques tailored to individuals seeking inner transformation.

In the early 1980s, Osho and his followers moved to the United States, where they established Rajneeshpuram in Oregon, a large commune that sought to create a self-sustaining spiritual community. However, tensions with local authorities, legal battles, and internal conflicts led to the downfall of Rajneeshpuram by 1985. Osho was deported from the U.S. and returned to India, where he re-established his movement in Pune, renaming the ashram as the Osho International Meditation Resort.
